Myofascial trigger points are hypersensitive nodules that form as a result of trauma in the connective tissue of skeletal muscle (the myofascial complex). Myofascial release is a powerful and effective tool to release the restricted tissue in which trigger points form. Through lecture, discussion, demonstration, and practice, participants learn how to identify areas of the body susceptible to trigger point formation, assess for the existence of trigger points, and provide appropriate treatment. Building on the awarenesses and skills acquired in the Introduction to Myofascial Release, this course provides a deeper exploration of the interplay between the physical and emotional dimensions of stress, trauma, and healing.
